The team

The adults on every trail

Three leads run the camp, and a counselor walks at the front and back of every group.

  • Lanie Ingalls, camp director, in a tan fleece on a camp field

    Lanie Ingalls

    Director and lead guide

Lanie started Tentpole to give kids a way into the trails around Flagstaff that starts slowly and stays curious. She leads the first trail of every week, answers the phone and knows every camper's pack by sight.

  • Clarence Manygoats, trail and weather lead, in a charcoal fleece on a wooden dock beside a lake

    Clarence Manygoats

    Trail and weather lead

Clarence plans the routes, checks the sky and the forecast every morning and walks at the back on the long trail day. He teaches campers to read clouds, wind and the ground under their boots.

  • Mose Phelps, camp craft and gear lead, in a green fleece vest on a dock beside a life ring

    Mose Phelps

    Camp craft and gear lead

Mose runs the camp craft weeks: shade flies, knots and the camp kitchen table. He checks every pack at the trailhead and likes a tidy site that leaves no trace.

Meet the team before camp
